The Los Angeles Lakers were in a bit of a tough spot.

While JJ Redick was reportedly always a potential candidate for their coaching job, the way things went down made it seem as if he wasn’t close to the top of their list.

That, plus the fact that he didn’t have any previous coaching experience, raised some questions among the fan base and the media.

Nonetheless, Redick seemed poised, calm, and in control during his introductory press conference.

However, that wasn’t much of a surprise for Skip Bayless.

Talking on Undisputed, the controversial pundit claimed that Redick was born to nail that press conference, as he had been talking to the media since his high school days.

He argued that the Lakers may not have needed to fire Darvin Ham, as he thought he had done more than enough to keep his job.

But now that Redick is there, he’ll now have to prove that he’s as good a basketball mind as his reputation makes it seem.

Truth be told, Redick didn’t do himself any favors by taking that job.

If he had taken the Toronto Raptors’ job last season, no one would’ve rushed to judge him or the organization, even if he didn’t find success early in his career.

Now, he’s in charge not only of the Los Angeles Lakers but also of LeBron James, and that has rarely worked out for coaches in recent years, so he’s going to have his work cut out for him.
