During Team USA’s first game together ahead of the Olympics in Paris, France, later this month, Stephen Curry and company made easy work of Canada in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is a team stacked with top-tier NBA talent from Jamal Murray to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
That game seemed to be an indication of where the Americans stood in comparison to arguably their toughest competition heading into the Olympics, as many believe the Canadians could give them a run for their money once these games start to count overseas.
On Monday, the Americans got back to work on the basketball floor as they took on Josh Giddey’s Australia squad, which is considered to be talented, but a tier or two below Team USA and Canada.
Although that was the consensus going into this game on Monday, the Australians put up a fight in Abu Dabi as they got the game within four points in the closing minute of play, which has some nervous that an upset could take place before the Olympics even got started.
Of course, this led to Skip Bayless of FOX Sports chiming in after the game and pointing out that Australia didn’t even shoot well from beyond the arc and were still within striking distance.
Team USA is lucky Australia shot only 4-18 from 3 and missed several late, when it got tight. Then again, maybe our guys NEEDED to lose to li’l ol’ Australia in
a game that didn’t count to wake them up for what’s coming in Paris.

If the game against the Australians is any indication of what is to come, the Americans may have some work to do in order to put a polished product on the basketball floor.
As of right now, Team USA is the team to beat with the Olympics around the corner, but that can quickly change once these games start to count.
