The NBA is a ruthless business and if a team falls short of expectations, media pundits and fans around the league will be calling for the head coach to be axed even before that final buzzer goes off.
That’s exactly what is happening to a team that just got knocked out of the playoffs, and “Undisputed’s” Skip Bayless is all in on firing the coach.
After losing 4-1 in the first round and getting knocked out by the Denver Nuggets for the second year in a row, Skip is among the many people calling for Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham to be fired, saying, “It’s the one piece to the puzzle that is so replaceable so quickly.”

The Lakers were in this exact situation a few years ago and scapegoated Frank Vogel in similar fashion despite him leading them to an NBA Championship.
The team probably will fire Ham, just like the Phoenix Suns will probably scapegoat Vogel after getting swept in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves, when the reality is that the blame should also be placed on the players and the front office.
This Lakers team just wasn’t good enough to beat Denver and they are paying the price for making so many bad transactions since that title run.
They chose not to pay Alex Caruso, traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and a first-round pick for Russell Westbrook, and have now found themselves lacking the necessary depth to atone for their aging superstar’s slight decline.
Running it back with a new coach may not fix everything.
