After a failed stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder while playing alongside fellow star Russell Westbrook, forward Paul George was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and joined forces with Kawhi Leonard, which was thought to be a dynamic duo that could win multiple NBA titles.
Unfortunately for George, the pairing of him and Leonard never really worked out the way the Clippers had planned, as injuries took a toll on both players and the team’s chances of competing year after year in a stacked Western Conference.
After contract talks with the Clippers fell through with the team unwilling to pay George what he wanted in NBA free agency, the Philadelphia 76ers swooped in and signed him to a lucrative long-term deal to have him team up with stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
With George joining forces with Maxey and Embiid, the 76ers have been thrust back into the title-contending conversation, as some believe they could be the biggest threat to the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference moving forward.
Although George is labeled a “superstar” by many, Skip Bayless of FOX Sports doesn’t buy it and explained why on The Skip Bayless Show.
“He’s just not that guy,” Bayless said. “He’s not a superstar. He’s just a star. He’s a really good star, but he’s just a second star. He’s a complimentary star. He’s a 1A.”

This is a bold take from Bayless, as George is widely considered to be one of the best two-way players in the game today, and he will almost certainly be a game-changer for the 76ers as long as he can stay healthy.
George will have something to prove as he starts fresh in Philadelphia and tries to win that elusive Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time.
