Joel Embiid is, without any doubt, one of the best, most talented, and most impactful players in today’s NBA.
Despite not getting into basketball until he was already grown up, the game just came easily for the Cameroonian.
That’s why, despite all the injury concerns and the lack of experience, the Philadelphia 76ers still didn’t hesitate to get him with the no. 3 pick.
Fast forward to today and Embiid has proven to be as good as advertised — if not better — but that hasn’t translated into that much success.
He did win an MVP, but he hasn’t been able to lead the Sixers past the second round of the playoffs, not even once.
So, with the Sixers now getting him Paul George, Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond, and even Caleb Martin this offseason, sports analyst Skip Bayless believes the pressure is mounting on him.
Caleb Martin is a surprisingly good signing for the Sixers who have already had several (PG, EG, Drummond). So the pressure mounts on Joel Embiid.

Truth be told, that’s right on point.
Embiid has been out of shape or hurt for most of his career, and he’s struggled to be at his best late in the season and as soon as the playoffs hit.
His numbers take a huge dive once the postseason arrives, and some believe he owes it to the team to skip the Summer Olympics to make sure to get back to full strength and fully healthy for when it actually counts.
With great talent comes great responsibility, and dominating in the regular season is meaningless if you don’t get the job done when it actually counts, especially if you’re a consensus top-5 player in the best league in the world.
