Skip Bayless Sounds Off On Mike McCarthy’s Playoff Shortcomings

Mike McCarthy’s career as an NFL coach is pretty similar to Doc Rivers’ in the NBA.

He has a Super Bowl pedigree from the early stages of his coaching days, and he continues to live off that success up to this date.

But regardless of their resumes, both McCarthy and Rivers have their fair share of detractors and people who believe it’s time they start being judged for what they do now and not what they did in the past.

Notably, diehard Dallas Cowboys fan Skip Bayless seems to agree with that assessment.

“For me, Mike McCarthy is Dak Prescott. They’re just good enough to keep their job and to leave us and Cowboys Nation frustrated. I don’t think he’s a dynamic coach.” — @RealSkipBayless pic.twitter.com/qzhuA1UMMg

In the latest edition of “Undisputed,” Bayless ranted about how McCarthy is just good enough to keep his job but not an elite coach when it comes to making adjustments and rising up to the occasion.

Bayless even compared him to his own quarterback, Dak Prescott, in the sense that both look good on paper when you look at their numbers and what they’ve done, but they can’t seem to get over the hump when their teams actually need them.

There are reports about McCarthy being on the hot seat this season, and the same goes for Prescott, especially after they traded for Trey Lance.

The Cowboys haven’t made it to the biggest stage in quite a while, and they have a team that’s good enough to put and end to that drought this season, so there will be no more room for excuses in Arlington this time around.
