Even if they don’t win the gold medal at the Olympics, South Sudan’s basketball team has every reason to be very proud.

They have already had an impressive exhibition game against Team USA in the lead-up to the Olympics and have surpassed many other countries by appearing in the Paris games.

Because of this, Amin Elhassan has been singing the praises of South Sudan’s head coach, Royal Ivey.

“Hire this man to be a head coach in the league… Royal Ivey deserves to be a head coach in the NBA,” he said on the latest episode of “Oddball.”

Ivey has done incredible things with the South Sudan team.

The country itself has only been independent for 13 years, meaning it doesn’t have as lengthy a history as many other competing nations.

But South Sudan is making up for lost time and repeatedly proving what it is capable of.

At the center of it all is Ivey, a former NBA player who is now a successful coach and could be heading back to the association soon.

Ivey was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks back in 2004.

After that, he played for the Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

He then spent some time playing in China at the end of his professional career.

Ivey started to coach after he played and worked as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets, Thunder, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets.

But it’s Ivey’s work with the South Sudanese team that is getting the most attention and now many people are hoping to see him lead a team in the near future.
