You cannot talk about NY sports and the New York Knicks without mentioning Spike Lee’s name at least once.

The renowned director is one of the most colorful and diehard sports fans on Earth, especially when it comes to his beloved Knicks.

He’s often spotted screaming and jumping up and down on the sidelines at Madison Square Garden, and no one has had more faith in the Knicks than this man.

That’s why it wasn’t shocking to see that he somehow still managed to make Aaron Rodgers’ injury for the New York Jets about the Knicks.

In an interview for the NY Times, Lee claimed that, as much as Rodgers’ injury was a disaster for the Jets, New Yorkers can still have faith in the Knicks, predicting that they’d go to the Eastern Conference Finals next season (via ClutchPoints).

“Last night was a disaster [for the Jets]… But we got the Knicks though! We’re going to the conference finals at least! I have full belief.”

Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with that ‘disaster’ label.

Other than that, perhaps this was just a bit of a reach from a diehard fanatic.

The Knicks have improved over the past two years under Tom Thibodeau, who no longer seems to be on the hot seat.

Jalen Brunson’s addition raised their ceiling, especially now that they don’t seem to rely on R.J. Barrett anymore and have made him more of a third-scoring option.

But they’re still not on the same tier as the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, or even Philadelphia 76ers, which is why a trip to the ECF might be a little out of reach at this moment.
