The G League is a place for young players to develop skills and hopefully find a place on the roster of a major NBA team.
But the young players will only truly discover their talents if they have a good coach leading them.
Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the San Antonio Spurs are hiring New York Knicks player development coach Scott King as the head coach of their G League Austin Spurs.
King will have his work cut out for him but this is a great opportunity for G League players as well as King himself.

Although the G League isn’t nearly as popular as the NBA, it still attracts a lot of fans.
For years, it has been a place where participants learn what it takes to be professional basketball players.
Established NBA players also occasionally spend some time in the G League when they are recovering from injury or working through a rough patch.
This may end up being one of the smartest moves that King ever makes.
If he does well as a G League coach, King could be in contention for a head coaching position in the NBA.
It might just be a few years before he returns to the association in a much more important position.
The Spurs are a team that is changing a lot and focusing on youthful talent to go alongside Victor Wembanyama.
That means that King will be coaching some players who could soon be working their way up to the NBA.
If he succeeds, King may be coming with them.
