Ever since the San Antonio Spurs won the NBA Draft Lottery back in June, no team in the league has gotten more attention or hype about the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season than Gregg Popovich’s squad.

As expected, the Spurs drafted French superstar Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, setting up what could be another era of winning basketball in San Antonio.

Shortly after bringing in Wembanyama, the team secured Popovich’s future by signing him to a lucrative five-year contract extension, which adds to the hype and expectations for the storied franchise moving forward.

Although many expected the Spurs to make a drastic turnaround with Wembanyama in the fold, there will almost certainly be some growing pains, which has led to a low win projection for next season by Draft Kings, who have the Spurs at 30.5 wins.

This didn’t sit well with current Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan, who dropped the bold and utterly unrealistic prediction of San Antonio going undefeated by quote-tweeting Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports.

Even if the Spurs were stacked with talent like the star-studded Phoenix Suns or arguably the best all-around team in the NBA like the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, going undefeated is not something that’s done in this league.

Winning all 82 regular-season games and then winning 16 straight playoff games is virtually impossible, or at least until a team accomplishes that feat, and no team has come close in the league’s history.

However, the Spurs are on cloud nine right now, and Sochan is having a bit of fun, making watching the Spurs more entertaining next season.
