Over the past few years, Luka Doncic has gone from a talented player with a knack for passing and scoring to a legitimate superstar and the new face of the Dallas Mavericks franchise in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era.
Although last season was forgettable, to say the least, as the Mavericks missed the NBA playoffs entirely after reaching the Western Conference Finals, Doncic has taken his game to another level this season as a legitimate MVP candidate and the league’s best scorer.
Along with dropping a career-high 73 points earlier in the season, Doncic is leading the league in scoring at 33.9 points per game, which is considerably more than the next guys in line (Giannis Antetokounmpo and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) at 30.4 points per game.
Doncic has made such a jump with his scoring this season that former NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy argues he may be the best offensive player ever, per “The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz” via NBACentral.
“I think the best offensive player now that I’ve ever seen is Luka Doncic…as strictly an offensive player, I think he’s the best I’ve ever seen,” Van Gundy said.

With Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan being so dominant offensively and having the accolades and championships to prove their worth, Doncic may have a long way to go before knocking them off their pedestal.
However, it’s safe to say that Doncic could get there and eventually become the best scorer we’ve ever seen, considering he’s only just turned 25 years old.
