Star QB Will Be In Boot for Weeks After Injury At Training Camp

After finishing the 2023 NFL season last in the AFC West and missing the NFL playoffs, the Los Angeles Chargers headed into the offseason in need of some drastic changes, which all started with the coaching staff, namely the head coach.

After getting destroyed by the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders in December, the Chargers’ brass had seen enough of head coach Brandon Staley and chose to fire him before playing their final three games of the 2023 campaign.

With the Chargers having one of the most attractive coaching vacancies in the NFL, Los Angeles became quite the draw for the big-name coaches available, leading to the team eventually hiring Jim Harbaugh, who was coming off a national championship with the University of Michigan.

With Harbaugh now leading the charge in Los Angeles, the Chargers are expected to bounce back with a vengeance during the upcoming 2024 NFL season, but things have gotten off to a rough start.

According to the team, star quarterback Justin Herbert has suffered a foot injury at training camp and will have to spend at least the next two weeks in a boot.

Following yesterday’s practice, Justin Herbert was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot.

Obviously, seeing the team’s best player and focal point of the offense go down before a preseason game is even played is not a great sign for a franchise hoping to turn things around in 2024.

The Chargers’ success depends on Herbert being one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and though he is expected to recover in time for Week 1, if his health is in question, it could be the start of a long first season for Harbaugh in Los Angeles.
