The last couple of seasons haven’t been the easiest for Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers.

His tenure with the Lakers will go down as one of the most infamous of his career and he is now trying to redeem himself with his latest team.

The numbers don’t like and they show that Westbrook did a lot of great things for the Lakers, just not as a starter.

StatMuse has highlighted the fact that Westbrook is the first player in more than 30 seasons to record 700+ points, 300+ rebounds, and 300+ assists off of the bench.

Although he still had his fair share of problems, Westbrook was usually a pretty big help for the Lakers when he wasn’t a starter.

After yet another tough start to the season, Westbrook’s role on the team was quickly changed and he became a bench player.

It was then that he began to shine.

Leading the Lakers’ second unit was a much better fit for Westbrook.

Although when the trade deadline rolled around, LA decided it was time to let him go.

He would eventually make his way to the other side of Crypto.com Arena and now plays for the fifth-seeded Clippers.

Westbrook is averaging 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists with the Clippers.

He has also become a starter again.

He will work hard to keep earning that position over the next few weeks in the playoffs.

With Paul George still out of the game, Westbrook will get a great opportunity to prove that he’s not just a terrific bench player but also a wonderful starter too.
