LeBron James was the heart and soul of the Los Angeles Lakers this season.
However, Rob Pelinka revamped the roster, and they were good enough to hold down the fort while he was out with an injury.
That, plus the team’s early start to the season, may have taken a big toll on James’ MVP chances this season.
As a matter of fact, this was the very first time in LeBron’s career that he didn’t get a single vote for MVP.

This is a remarkable streak, not only because it points out the fact that he got MVP votes as a rookie but because he’s been in the league for the past 20 years.
James getting at least one MVP vote for 19 straight years just speaks volumes of his durability and how he’s managed to stay relevant throughout the years.
Some might argue that James should’ve had more than four MVP awards, and it would be hard to argue with that logic, but that’s the way things have gone in the league for years.
It’s crazy that Michael Jordan didn’t win at least seven MVPs despite clearly being the best and most impactful player in the league, and the same goes for LeBron.
Also, it’s not like LeBron’s numbers were any less impressive this season.
He averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.2 three-pointers on 50% from the floor, all while playing 35.5 minutes a night at 38 years old.
All great things come to an end, but maybe he’ll start another streak next season, as he’s not going anywhere yet.
