When Toronto Blue Jays rookie Davis Schneider was playing his first few games in MLB, he was performing at a very high level that many of us considered unsustainable.
Here were are, 25 games later, and Schneider keeps raking.
He hasn’t taken his foot off the gas, and his incredible performance is actually breaking records in the league.
“Blue Jays Davis Schneider’s 1.315 OPS is the highest in MLB history since 1901 through a player’s first 25 career games,” Sportsnet Stats tweeted, citing OptaSTATS.

In 102 plate appearances, Schneider is slashing an incredible .370/.500/.815 with eight home runs, 10 doubles, 21 runs, and 20 RBI.
His 1.315 OPS just won’t come down, as he refuses to enter into any kind of slump.
Of course, this excellent play doesn’t exactly come from nowhere.
He had an amazing .969 OPS and 21 home runs in Triple-A to open the season.
What is really surprising is the fact he was a 28th-round selection in the 2017 MLB Draft.
848 players were drafted before him, but the Blue Jays gave him a chance and here we are.
With an 80-65 record, the Blue Jays are very much in the race for a postseason spot.
That is, in large part, because of Schneider’s recent play.
He has been a consistent performer as Toronto tries to punch its ticket to October.
While a lot of people might be waiting for Schneider’s production to fall off a cliff, the guy keeps hitting home run, doubles, singles, and earning walks.
He keeps getting on base and driving in runs.
And in the process, the Blue Jays keep strengthening their postseason case.
