After an incredible finish to the 2022-23 NBA regular season, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to keep their postseason hopes alive with a chance to clinch a playoff spot through the Play-in Tournament.
With a healthy Anthony Davis and LeBron James, the Lakers clinched the seventh seed in the Western Conference and looked like a team that could make a deep run in the postseason.
In the first round, Los Angeles was matched up with the second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in a series many didn’t expect the storied franchise to advance in.
However, the Lakers came out firing and ultimately got the best of the Grizzlies in five games, with Davis reinvigorated and playing like the best defensive player in the league.
In Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors, Davis and the Lakers kept their foot on the gas and beat the defending NBA champions on the road in San Francisco, with the superstar forward continuing to put together some incredible postseason averages, according to StatMuse.

After multiple seasons marred by injuries and disappointment with the Lakers, Davis has finally come into his own and resembles the player that dominated the competition during the NBA bubble in 2020, resulting in a 17th title for the storied franchise.
In this second-round series against the Warriors, Davis has been able to impose his will in the paint, and if he can continue to do that moving forward, Golden State will be in danger of losing this series and seeing their repeat hopes come to an end.
