The Boston Red Sox have been one of baseball’s hottest teams as of late.

With their 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night, they ran their streak up to seven games and have now won eight of their last 10 ballgames.

Veteran left-hander Chris Sale earned the win for the Sox at Citizens Bank Park on Friday, allowing three runs over six innings and striking out 10 batters.

For the season, Sale is 3-2 with a 6.37 ERA.

However, certain numbers show that the veteran ace is making some key improvements.

On Twitter, Red Sox analyst Tyler Milliken listed some stats that show how Sale is making strides.

Chris Sale over his last 4 starts:

23.1 IP
3.86 ERA/2.16 FIP
10.0 K/9
1.5 BB/9
0 HR
86.5 Average EV
Not to mention an unlucky .355 BABIP

Velocity is ticking up and his command is getting better with every start.

Over his last four starts, Sale has pitched 23.1 innings.

He owns an ERA of 3.86 and a FIP of 2.16.

Sale has averaged 10 strikeouts per nine innings, just under two walks per nine innings, and has not allowed a home run.

His average exit velocity sits at 86.5 MPH.

Needless to say, it’s clear that Sale is making some strides and could be just what the Red Sox need as they look to sort out their starting pitching issues.

The Red Sox are 20-14 this season and are currently in possession of the second American League Wild Card spot.

Sale is seemingly returning to form and pitching like the ace that he once was before injuries derailed him.

If the Red Sox are going to remain in postseason contention, they will need Sale to keep pitching the way he has been, which would give them a true No. 1 starter to rely on.
