The Pittsburgh Steelers got a tough schedule draw for their upcoming season.

Nobody understands that better than owner Art Rooney, who spoke with the team’s official site recently after their 2024 schedule was released.

“It’s probably not exactly how I would have drawn it up, but we’ve got to do the best we can,” Rooney stated.

The team has as tough a schedule as any team heading into the new year.

That is mainly because of the brutal stretch that they must face from Week 11 all the way through Week 18.

In that stretch, they will face all three of their AFC North rivals twice (Ravens, Browns, Bengals), and they will also face talented playoff teams from a year ago in the Eagles and Chiefs.

The Steelers need to take advantage early on in the year.

In 8 of the first 10 games that Pittsburgh has on the schedule, they face non-playoff teams from a season ago.

However, looking at it from a different perspective, some of those games are against hopeful contenders in the Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

This is one of the toughest schedules in the league.

If head coach Mike Tomlin takes this team to the playoffs with this schedule, he should be Coach of the Year.

But remember, they did add a lot of impactful pieces this offseason, including future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, All-Pro linebacker Patrick Queen, All-Pro gadget player Cordarrelle Patterson, and multiple wide receivers.

This team is in a good position to contend with the roster in place.

Now, they just need to win some tough games.
