The Houston Texans’ immediate future was already bright after surpassing expectations during the 2023 season and making a couple of sizable additions this offseason.
But now expectations for the 2024 campaign are sky-high after they landed star wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a recent trade with the Buffalo Bills.
Diggs took to Twitter to post a video with the simple message: “Let’s work.”

Diggs is arguably one of the NFL’s five-best wide receivers, but there were rumors dating back to the end of the 2022 season that he was unhappy with Bills management and quarterback Josh Allen.
Now, he will be catching passes from up-and-coming QB C.J. Stroud, who took the league by storm in 2023 and appears to have the “clutch gene.”
He will be lining up alongside Nico Collins and Tank Dell, two wideouts who will take some pressure off him, while new starting running back Joe Mixon will provide some balance for Houston’s offense.
On defense, veteran pass rusher Danielle Hunter will upgrade a unit that was already showing some promise.
Diggs is 30 years of age, so he should have plenty left in the tank, and he made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons with the Bills.
In 2020, his first year in Buffalo, he led the league with 127 catches and 1,535 receiving yards, which also earned him an All-Pro First-Team selection.
Perhaps it is a bit too early to expect to see the Texans in the Super Bowl, but they should be able to take another legitimate step forward this coming season toward eventually winning it all.
