Long before becoming NBA stars, LeBron James and Stephen Curry’s paths were already tangled up.
They were born in the very same hospital in Akron, Ohio, and that place should get some sort of plaque or distinction from the league for its contributions to basketball.
James was a fan of Curry’s game in college and even went to watch him play at Davidson.
Then, Curry became his nemesis, beating him three out of four times in the NBA Finals and creating the most entertaining rivalry in modern basketball.
That’s why, now that they’re teammates for the first time, it just feels kind of surreal.
That’s the way Curry described his new partnership with James on Team USA.
Talking to Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Curry claimed that it was crazy to finally be on the same team as James, as they’ve gone through so many battles.

He also shared the utmost respect for his game and his work ethic.
Notably, the Warriors reportedly tried to trade for LeBron midway through last season, but James wasn’t interested in leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
The summer Olympics will give us a glimpse of what that partnership could’ve been like, even if it was short-lived because of James’ age and the fact that he might not be in the league for much longer.
As for Team USA, they should be strongly favored to take home the gold medal, especially with those two Hall of Famers leading the way and — literally — carrying the torch.
