Because they have been the two biggest names in the NBA for so long, many basketball fans have been wishing for the day when Stephen Curry and LeBron James would play on the same team.

With both players aging and nearing retirement, time is running out for these two titans of the sport to join forces.

Speaking to his dad on their new podcast, “Heat Check,” via @OnBallSteph on Twitter, Curry said that he and James might team up, but not in the way some people hope.

“Maybe we’ll get that, not in the NBA, maybe on a team USA type vibe,” Curry said.

Over the last few years, fans have daydreamed about the possibility of Curry and James wearing the same jersey.

Some people have thought that Curry would head south to the Los Angeles Lakers, while others envisioned a scenario where James spends his last years playing in San Francisco with the Golden State Warriors.

That seems very far-fetched at this point, for several reasons.

Curry is incredibly loyal to his Warriors and James is on the verge of signing a brand new deal with the Lakers, which will likely take him to retirement.

However, both James and Curry have committed to playing for Team USA in this summer’s Olympic games.

While James has been to the Olympics before, this will be Curry’s first time representing his home country like this.

It’ll also probably be his last since he is 36 years old and will likely be retired, or close to it, when the next Olympics come around.

Therefore, this will be the best and possibly last chance for NBA fans to see Curry and James play together outside of All-Star Games.
