The New York Knicks have improved under Tom Thibodeau.

It always seems like he enters the season in the hot seat, but he’s weathered the storm and has brought playoff basketball back to the Big Apple.

But as better as his tenure in New York has been as of late, some believe his time may run out sooner than later, and that includes Stephen A. Smith.

“I believe this should be Tom Thibodeau’s last year in New York. … [Ty Lue] is somebody they should pursue.”

That’s why he believes that should the Knicks part ways with Thibodeau next season, they should go after Tyronn Lue.

Smith explained that he’s not calling for Thibs to be fired; he just believes things will run their course and they should look to get better for the future, which is why they should go after the guy he called a top-two coach in today’s NBA.

He also said that Lue should be looking forward to leaving the Los Angeles Clippers to join a team where players are actually available to play, taking a shot at Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Smith cited that Lue is 19 years younger than Thibodeau and could be in charge of the organization for years to come, and it most definitely makes sense.

Then again, we’re talking about waiting for at least another season before that even becomes a possibility unless Lue parts ways with the Clippers now and the Knicks fire Thibs midseason or vice versa.

As of now, this is nothing more than wishful thinking, but the Knicks front office should definitely keep Lue on their shortlist if the gig becomes available.
