ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has made a career out of having hot takes on a daily basis, mainly about the NBA and NFL, while also being a heated debater on “First Take.”
Although it could be argued that Smith is the best in the business at what he does, as he can create quite a stir with these hot takes and long-winded opinions, he also has some regrets for things he’s said in the past.
In a recent appearance on “Podcast P with Paul George,” Smith admitted that one thing he’d take back if he could is going at former No. 1 overall pick Kwame Brown after he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies by the Los Angeles Lakers for Pau Gasol.
Smith held nothing back by calling Brown a “bona fide scrub,” and that didn’t sit well with a lot of people, so he’d take it back if he could, which obviously, he can’t.
“I wish I could do that over. I wouldn’t do it.”

Earlier this year, Brown was extremely vocal on several topics and went viral for a few of his controversial takes that were on the level of Smith and his rants.
As Smith said, he let him have his day when the time came for Brown to fire back at him for comments he made following the blockbuster trade that shook the NBA world.
With the way social media is today and how pundits like Smith have to hype things up on their shows, there’s bound to be another incident that Smith regrets in the future, as he will almost certainly take it too far, which may lead to another public apology to another athlete somewhere down the line.
