The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the best teams in the league this season.

Despite some setbacks, especially against winning teams, they’ve proven that they could keep up with every opponent they face, at least for the most part.

So, now that they could have as many as two home games in the playoffs, there’s really no room or time for excuses anymore.

With that in mind, Stephen A. Smith claimed that the Cowboys shouldn’t consider bringing back HC Mike McCarthy if he loses to any team outside of the San Francisco 49ers (via First Take).

The Niners have been the strongest powerhouses in the NFC, and they could beat anybody, so there would be no shame in losing to them.

Nonetheless, they’ve also had the Cowboys’ number for quite a while now, so perhaps a change of scenery at the coaching position is just what they need to get over that hump.

They’re currently 8-0 at home this season, and they’ve been incredibly dominant at AT&T Stadium, so it’s only natural to think that they will look to continue that trend.

Moreover, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already put a lot of pressure on McCarthy by stating that his job security will be dealt with on a game-to-game basis, and he couldn’t have chosen a worse moment to make those statements.

This is a cruel business, and no one cares about what you’ve done in the regular season, so coach McCarthy will have to be at his best to secure his job for next season.
