The Los Angeles Chargers recently made superstar quarterback Justin Herbert a very wealthy man, as the team signed him to a contract worth $262.5 million over the next half-decade.
With Herbert’s long-term future with the Chargers now secured, the Los Angeles franchise hopes to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender for the foreseeable future, as they have locked down a position where it is very hard to find a franchise player.
With the new lucrative contract, Herbert will be dealing with another level of expectations, as the team has gone all-in on him and expects results immediately.
Fortunately for Herbert, the Chargers are one of the most talented teams in the NFL today, with the squad stacked on both sides of the football, with Khalil Mack helping lead the way on defense along with Joey Bosa.
In an interview with Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, Mack was asked about Herbert and his new deal with the team.

Last season, the Chargers’ year came to an end due to an unfortunate loss to the upstart Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL playoffs, where Trevor Lawrence pulled off an incredible comeback for the ages.
The Chargers have a habit of losing to teams in that fashion when the season is on the line, and that will need to be corrected moving forward if the franchise finally wants to win that elusive Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Although the Chargers are expected to be a force to be reckoned with during the 2023 NFL season, the AFC is as tough as ever, meaning Herbert and company will have their work cut out for them once again to get over the hump.
