The NBA community was rocked to it’s core earlier on Wednesday.
According to a report by ESPN duo of Ramona Shelbourne and Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors, of all teams, actually tried to trade for LeBron James.
The report states that Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors brass tried to convince James to join Stephen Curry in the Bay area, which obviously didn’t happen.
Considering that, Stephen A. Smith took to First Take to confirm the news, stating that it was LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul, as the one who killed the deal.
Nonetheless, he also believes that this kind of thing speaks volumes about LeBron’s level of frustration with the Lakers’ front office, specifically with Rob Pelinka, as he doesn’t think he has any sort of issue with team owner Jeanie Buss.
“It was a nice dream, it did not come true,” Smith said.
Imagine Bron and Curry on the same team

Smith believes that James should’ve agreed and decided to join forces with the greatest shooter in the history of the game, as their games are just tailor-made to complement each other, adding that it was a nice dream that didn’t come to fruition.
The Lakers went against LeBron’s wishes and didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline, just signing LA native Spencer Dinwiddie on the buyout market.
That could create a massive ripple effect, as James has a player option for next season and he might decide to take his talents somewhere else where he could either compete to win another NBA championship or team up with his firstborn, Bronny, who’s eligible to declare for the upcoming NBA Draft.
