The Los Angeles Lakers are 6-1 in their last seven games.
For the first time since they won the NBA’s In-Season Tournament, they finally look like a legitimate threat to come out of the Western Conference.
Notably, Stephen A. Smith believes it all has to do with Anthony Davis’ stellar play.
Talking on First Take, the pundit stated that as much as he’s criticized Davis for his inconsistent play and injury-proneness, he can’t deny the fact that he’s been lights out this season.
He stated that Davis has finally been consistent, adding that he’s a legitimate superstar and a worthy All-Star this season.
Smith also thinks that if the Lakers can keep this level of play, with Davis, LeBron James, D’Angelo Russell, and Austin Reaves all averaging at least 20 points and five assists as they’ve done lately, it would be hard to count them out.
“Anthony Davis has been a superstar. There is no way around it,” Smith said.

Stephen A. acknowledged that he didn’t want to state the Lakers were all the way back or had found their identity because they seem to nosedive every single time pundits started praising them.
He also believes they’re not going to be favored to go the distance in the playoffs.
Then again, you can never count a team like this out because of their two superstars.
This Lakers team is finally starting to look like the one that made it to the Western Conference Finals last season.
They’re still playing catchup, but they have been playing very good basketball over the past couple of weeks.
