If Victor Wembanyama turns out to be half as good as scouts think he can be, then we could be witnessing the start of a new NBA era.

This is Stephen Curry’s time, an era in which all players need to be consistent three-point shooters and where all teams look to push the pace, spread the floor, and knock down three-balls.

Now, we could be looking at the Unicorn era, in which big men were required to have handles and an efficient jump shot as well, just like Nikola Jokic, Domantas Sabonis, and, to a lesser extent, Alperen Sengun.

If Wembanyama takes over, he’ll become the blueprint of the new superstar.

Notably, that’s what Stephen A. Smith believes is going to happen, as he recently took some time to praise the rookie, admitting that he thought he would struggle early in his career because of the league’s physicality.

Smith stated that Wembanyama has a lot of heart and has proved that he’s not going to back down despite his lanky frame.

Moreover, he also revealed that Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren don’t get along, adding that Holmgren is no scrub and that he cannot wait to see them matching up.

This is far from a surprise, as they go way back to the USA’s and France’s youth national teams, and there have always been comparisons between them.

Holmgren is a bit of a Wemby 2.0, a 7-foot-4 specimen who can create for others, take shots from deep, and swat shots into the stands.

So, we could be looking at the start of a Magic-Bird rivalry between two unicorns, and we’re totally here for it.
