The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the teams to beat in the league for years now, and that’s not going to change any time soon.
The team has been consistently good, and with the current set of talented players they have at their disposal, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see that being the case in 2024 as well.
However, as good as they are, they need to get over the hump.
And, according to Stephen A. Smith, the clock might be ticking on them.
Talking on ESPN’s First Take, he talked about how teams that are constantly knocking on the door of a championship either knock down the door and win it all or run out of luck.
.@stephenasmith believes the 49ers’ Super Bowl window is closing

And with the Niners still not getting star OT Trent Williams on the field because of a contract dispute, that might be the case with Kyle Shanahan’s team.
Smith believes they also need to take care of Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation in order to make sure their championship window stays open.
Also, they will have to get Brock Purdy signed to a very lucrative deal sooner rather than later, meaning there will be less money to throw around for the rest of the roster.
The Niners have done an outstanding job of stacking talent together, but they’re no longer the lone powerhouse in the NFC.
They have everything they need to get the job done, but unless that happens this year, it might not be the case with this roster at all.
