The Dallas Cowboys are in a tough situation with Dak Prescott.

And while they may have brought that upon themselves, they might have to make a decision about him very soon.

With that in mind, Stephen A. Smith stated that by no means they should sign him to a contract extension.

In the latest edition of ESPN’s First Take, the controversial pundit claimed that Prescott has been a ‘virtual no-show’ when it matters the most.

Smith said that results should matter at some point, and with Prescott having just two playoff wins in eight years, demanding top-dollar would be ‘egregious.’

He understands the business side of it and believes that the Cowboys are pretty much stuck with him.

Also, Dak Prescott is not to blame for other quarterbacks getting paid that much.

But unless he agrees to a big pay cut, which likely isn’t going to happen, he thinks the Cowboys should just let him walk.

Truth be told, that makes sense.

As good as he’s been in the regular season, he hasn’t come to play when it has actually mattered, both vs. good teams or in the playoffs.

And while the quarterback market has blown up in recent years, the Cowboys have several flaws and issues to address, and that might not happen if they commit north of $60 million per year on their quarterback.

All things considered, barring a shocking turn of events, this might be Prescott’s final season in Arlington.
