Stephen A. Smith Says 76ers’ Game 6 Loss Could Cost Them A Few Jobs

There’s too much at stake for the Philadelphia 76ers this time around.

They managed to put the Boston Celtics against the ropes and had a prime opportunity to close the series out at home, but they failed to get the job done.

Now, Stephen A. Smith believes that the loss could be the first step in a major catastrophe for the organization, citing that it could lead to multiple people losing their jobs.

Smith believes that Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey could be on their way out if they fail to beat the Celtics in Game 7, adding that James Harden has been rumored to be looking to opt out of the final year of his contract in the offseason, regardless of this season’s outcome.

The Sixers went to great lengths to put together a championship-caliber team in the offseason, and they’ve been legit NBA championship contenders for most of the year.

The Celtics were the oddsmakers’ favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference before the start of the playoffs, so most analysts and fans wouldn’t be shocked if they were to win this series.

Rivers’ teams have a long history of shortcomings in the postseason, and there have been rumors about his future with the team being in jeopardy, so Smith might be right on point with this assessment.
