Stephen A. Smith got humbled this weekend and had to apologize to the reigning champion Denver Nuggets on Monday morning.

Speaking on “First Take,” Smith was reminded that only a few days ago he claimed the Nuggets were going to be swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Now the series is 2-2 after the Nuggets won back-to-back games and Smith said he’s “shocked” to see how they bounced back.

He said Nikola Jokic played like the MVP he is, Jamal Murray was in much better form in Games 3 and 4, and Rudy Gobert of the Timberwolves wasn’t performing like the Defensive Player of the Year on Sunday night.

Like many others, Smith was wowed by the T-Wolves during the first two games of the series.

He was especially impressed by their defense, which was suffocating and impossible to shake off.

That was a major reason why he thought that the Nuggets were about to be swept.

But the Nuggets showed Smith and the rest of the world what they are made of and why they won the championship last year.

In the last two games, they have played much better and shed Minnesota’s defense.

They have the momentum right now as the series heads back to Denver and the Timberwolves are in a bad position.

With that being said, Minnesota has won two games on the road and might be able to do it again in Game 5.

The series is now tied and both teams have a lot to prove in the days ahead.

Although Smith was shocked by what he saw from the Nuggets this weekend, he still isn’t convinced they will win this series.

It feels like everything is hanging on Game 5.
