The NBA has seen a lot of spectacular teams formed over the past several years.

The Eastern Conference, in particular, has been noted as the stronger of the two, given its number of great teams.

Many teams have established themselves as title contenders, the most popular being the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.

While most fans and analysts have picked the Bucks or Celtics to win the East, Stephen A. Smith recently cautioned against this thinking.

As he mentioned in a video on Twitter, “We need to pause for a second to stop sleeping on the Philadelphia 76ers.”

Smith admits that he picked the Celtics to come out of the East, so he isn’t necessarily saying that fans are wrong.

However, after watching the 76ers’ season play out, Smith does believe they are being disrespected in the public eye.

Smith discussed several positive aspects of this team, including head coach Nick Nurse and executive Daryl Morey.

Nurse won a championship with the Toronto Raptors, and as Smith highlights, Morey has put a great team on the floor.

With this in mind, Smith likes the 76ers but would love their chances in the East if they added a piece to their roster,

He pointed to Zach LaVine as a potential target, saying the 76ers should target someone “of that ilk.”

If they go out and do that in the next several weeks, there’s no telling how high this team’s ceiling might be.

Can the 76ers get to a place where they could take out the Celtics or Bucks come playoff time?
