Doc Rivers of the Milwaukee Bucks has been in the spotlight a lot lately, mostly because of a new television series that details his time coaching the Los Angeles Clippers.

In the show, Rivers, played by Laurence Fishburne, is seen tearing his players apart with biting, harsh, and downright cruel personal comments about them.

That has some people wondering just how much is fact and fiction.

Speaking to Pat McAfee, former Clippers player Stephen Jackson said he never saw Rivers act that way.

“Doc Rivers was super respectful in my short time with the Clippers and he’s a stand up guy,” Jackson said.

Jackson mentioned that he wasn’t with the Clippers for very long: he only played for nine games in Los Angeles during the 2013–14 season.

That was a good year for Rivers and the Clippers, as they scored a 57-25 record and went all the way to the Western Conference semifinals.

It was a strong era for Los Angeles, with players like Blake Griffin and Chris Paul leading the way and others, such as DeAndre Jordan, Matt Barnes, Reggie Bullock, Jamal Crawford, JJ Redick, and others giving the team a strong personality and one of their best records in years.

But apparently, Rivers was awfully hard on his players behind the scenes, according to this new show.

Since his time leading the Clippers, Rivers has moved on to the Philadelphia 76ers and now the Bucks.

He has never found the sort of success he has had in Los Angeles but there haven’t been any claims of him being too hard on his players.

Rivers’ on-screen outbursts may make for good television but Jackson says they simply didn’t happen.
