The San Antonio Spurs are still far behind in the postseason race, but they’ve had quite an impressive offseason.

Landing proven veterans with plenty of playoff experience, such as Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, could and should do wonders for this organization.

More than that, they landed one of the most promising players of this underwhelming NBA Draft class in Stephon Castle.

Notably, the reigning No. 4 pick was very impressive in his Summer League game, scoring 18 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists in the California Classic (via NBA).

San Antonio’s No. 4 pick Stephon Castle and No. 48 pick Harrison Ingram put together strong efforts to lead the @spurs to victory in the California Classic!

Castle has all the physical tools to be a difference-maker right out of the gate.

He’s a 6-foot-6 combo guard who has proven to be more than capable of running the offense and getting the ball up the court.

He’s a solid playmaker and an impressive athlete.

Castle can operate as the primary ball-handler or slide to the two, and his ability to cut, drive, and slash makes him a perennial threat above or below the rim.

He’s also shown impressive defensive instincts and awareness, which makes him a perfect fit alongside the likes of Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama.

As of now, the only question about him is whether he’ll be able to develop a consistent jump shot.

The Spurs might not make the playoffs this season, but it won’t be long before we see them right back in the mix.
