The tail end of an NFL career tends to come suddenly, and many times, there is a last-gasp effort to secure playing time with new franchises.
Such appears to be the case with Stephon Gilmore, who has had 12 productive NFL seasons defending against some of the best receivers ever to wear the uniform.
However, as Gilmore prepares for year 13, there is a notable lack of suitors for his services, at least thus far.
Around The NFL reported that Gilmore is still “waiting for the right opportunity” as he seeks a new team to play for in 2024.

The heyday of Gilmore’s long NFL career came in his first nine seasons, of which the South Carolina product spent the first five with Buffalo and the next four with New England.
He is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and was named First-Team All-Pro after the 2018 and 2019 campaigns with the Patriots.
And for his six interceptions and stellar cornerback play in 2019, Gilmore was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
His 31 career interceptions rank him sixth among active NFL players.
However, the 34-year-old is unemployed at the moment, and he recently said that he is patiently waiting for the right chance to suit up again.
Gilmore has been well-traveled the past three seasons, having spent half a year with Carolina in 2021 before full seasons with the Colts and Cowboys.
It is likely that someone needing depth and veteran leadership will give Gilmore a chance to earn a spot on their roster in the coming training camps for what would be his 13th professional season.
