The Dallas Cowboys are always a team in the NFL that gets a lot of buzz ahead of the regular season, whether the team is good or not, as America’s Team is arguably the most popular team in the league.

The 2023 NFL season is no different, with the Cowboys making a lot of noise in an NFC that is weaker than usual, with only a handful of teams expected to compete with the best of the best in the league.

One of the main reasons for all the optimism and hype surrounding the Cowboys right now is due to the team’s defense and how it could very well be the best in the NFL when the season gets underway next month.

Superstar linebacker Micah Parsons has led this defense over the past two seasons and has helped this team get near elite status defensively, but this season they might get over the top, especially with Stephon Gilmore and Trevon Diggs being on the same page in training camp.

In an interview on NFL Network, Gilmore was asked about playing alongside Diggs, who recently signed a massive contract extension with the team, and he said the two gelled immediately.

“We’ve been able to gel as soon as we got in the meeting room.”

Gilmore went as far as to say Diggs has turned into a “little brother” to him during their time together in Dallas and that he believes the 24-year-old has the potential to be the “best in the business” at the cornerback position.

At one point in time, Gilmore was considered the best defensive player in the NFL or at least the league’s elite player in the secondary, as he’s a two-time All-Pro, former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and a Super Bowl champion.

At 32, Gilmore isn’t the focal point of the defense anymore but could be vital to the team’s success while playing off players like Diggs and Parsons.

If Gilmore, Diggs and Parsons are all on the same page this early, it could be a scary sight for opposing offenses during the upcoming season.
