After having four practice sessions together as a team at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Team USA went head-to-head against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Canadian squad at T-Mobile Arena last week in what was expected to potentially be a competitive affair.
Unfortunately for Canada, the Americans made easy work of the Canadians as they proceeded to pull off the blowout in Sin City, which set the stage for what could be an epic showdown once these games start to mean something overseas in Paris, France, later this month.
Although Team USA looked locked in and ready to go with an impressive win over Canada last week, the team struggled to put away Australia on Monday in Abu Dabi, as Josh Giddey and his squad proved to be more resilient than expected.
Along with the Australians showing that the Americans might be beatable in the Olympics, head coach Steve Kerr and his coaching staff have a decision to make regarding whether to have Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid start or come off the bench, as he has struggled, thus far.
After Monday’s game, Kerr spoke to the media and admitted that the lineup needs some tinkering but claims Embiid is getting better and better with each passing day via NBA Central.
“These next few games, I’m going to continue experimenting with the lineup. Joel is getting better and better every day,” Kerr said.

Fortunately for Team USA, Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has looked as locked in as ever off the bench and could unseat Embiid for the starting spot once they get to Paris.
Davis was an unstoppable force on both ends of the floor in both games played thus far and would be a welcome addition to the starting lineup if Kerr is indeed concerned about Embiid’s performance.
