A year after failing to medal at the FIBA World Cup, Team USA men’s basketball is starting to look like not only a team that could win an Olympic gold medal but a true force to be reckoned with.
It blew out Nikola Jokic and Serbia, 105-79, to improve to 3-0 in its exhibition games, and things are starting to take shape heading toward the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA has almost as much sheer talent as it has ever boasted, which has led to some debate whether head coach Steve Kerr should make any changes to his starting lineup.
But he let it be known that LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid will remain in his starting lineup, per NBACentral.
“We’ve been looking at other guys around them, and we obviously do have great options, but I like those three guys together,” Kerr said of the veteran trio.

Part of the beauty of Team USA’s setup is that because of its immense talent, none of its NBA superstars ever have to feel like they have to carry the team, which makes things easier for everyone.
Yet against Serbia, Curry almost resembled his usual self with Kerr’s Golden State Warriors, scoring 24 points on 8-of-13 field-goal shooting, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, in just 21 minutes.
He is one of the reasons why some people feel this year’s edition of Team USA could be its most talented ever, even more so than the legendary 1992 Dream Team that cruised to the gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics.
The United States has two more exhibition contests remaining before its first game of the Olympics on July 28, against Serbia.
