The end of the of the Golden State Warriors dynasty might be here as the team has largely struggled throughout the 2023-24 NBA season.

Despite a stellar season from Stephen Curry, the rest of the roster has been unable to keep pace which is why the Warriors sit outside of the playoff race.

Injuries have played a factor as well as Draymond Green’s lengthy suspension, but Golden State doesn’t look like the same juggernaut they’ve become known to be.

One reason why is the decline of Klay Thompson who looks like a shell of himself on the court.

Thompson’s been in a slump almost the entire season and was even benched down the stretch in a win against the Brooklyn Nets.

However, head coach Steve Kerr still has faith in Thompson and considers him a big part of their identity on both ends via 95.7 The Game.

“[Klay] is still a very good player,” Kerr said. “He still represents something for us. The floor spacing, the defense, the versatility. It’s just different. Part of the challenge for him and us is to adapt to those changed circumstances.”

Kerr has been loyal to his core group of players and his defense of Thompson signals that the benching was just for that game.

Thompson is still a feared shooter and can stretch defenses thin when he has it going, but the problem is those nights have been far and few between.

The shooting guard is heading into free agency and his future with the Warriors could be in doubt if his poor play continues.
