Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu squared off against each other over the weekend in a highly anticipated three-point contest that attracted many NBA and WNBA fans.

In the end, Curry won the contest with a score of 29 to Ionescu’s 26.

Speaking about Curry and Ionecu’s face-off, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the event was about more than who could score more.

According to a video shared by NBC Sports, Kerr said that Curry was focused on “helping advance the women’s game” and drawing more attention to Ionescu and the rest of the amazing talent currently in the WNBA.

Kerr claims that Curry wasn’t worried about winning the contest, although he did in the end.

“The only thing Steph was thinking about was helping advance the women’s game.”

Curry really has nothing to prove at this point in his career.

He is already the all-time three-point leader for the NBA and is considered the greatest shooter in league history.

So this competition wasn’t really necessary to prove his skills.

But when Curry agreed to battle Ionescu, he knew that he was going to bring more interest to the WNBA and that was something that made him want to sign on.

Sure enough, the contest generated a lot of attention and buzz, and millions tuned in.

Ionescu didn’t beat Curry but she did come close and made seven straight shots before gaining her total of 26.

That number tied the highest score by any NBA player in the three-point contest held earlier in the night.

It was a wonderful competition that showcased the best that both the NBA and WNBA have to offer.

Because of the attention it drew to both leagues, it was a winning event for everyone.
