The Golden State Warriors will head into the 2023-24 NBA season after going through some pretty drastic changes over the summer following their second-round exit in the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Along with losing longtime general manager Bob Myers, who decided to walk away from the franchise after helping the team win four titles over the past decade, the Warriors chose to part ways with guard Jordan Poole by trading him to the Washington Wizards.

In exchange for Poole, the Warriors brought in future Hall of Famer Chris Paul, who will shake things up a bit for Golden State in terms of what the team wants to do with their starting lineup and rotation next season.

Apparently, head coach Steve Kerr plans to shift Klay Thompson over to the wing while tasking him with guarding power forwards, according to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area via NBACentral, which is an interesting choice for an aging star who has lost a step defensively.

Although Thompson has shown flashes of his old form as one of the best two-way players in the game, the injuries over the years have taken a toll on the veteran guard, as he’s not the great defender he once was.

Even though Thompson isn’t the same dominant player of old, he can still play at a high level and may have lucked out with the addition of Paul to help him shoulder the load defensively in the backcourt while also having the advantage of Andrew Wiggins helping him out in the frontcourt.
