The Golden State Warriors have been suffering through a tough season, and days ago, it got even worse when they learned that Dejan Milojevic, one of their assistant coaches, died from a heart attack at the young age of 46.
He was well-loved within the organization, and his passing sent the team into a deep state of mourning.
That mourning was so difficult to deal with that the Warriors had their next two games postponed, and head coach Steve Kerr is thankful to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for accommodating his team, per Warriors on NBCS.
“There’s no way any of us could have walked out onto a court and played a basketball game.”

Milojevic was someone who may have not been well-known among non-Warriors fans, but he played a sizable role in the game of basketball globally.
Before coming to Golden State, he played pro basketball from 1994 to 2009 in Serbia and Montenegro, and afterward, he moved on to become the head coach for Mega Basket, a club team in the Adriatic Basketball Association.
There, he had the good fortune of coaching a 6-foot-11 teenager named Nikola Jokic, and he helped Jokic prepare for the success he has had in the NBA over the last few years, which includes two regular-season MVPs and a world championship.
Milojevic joined the Warriors for the 2021-22 season and worked with big man Kevon Looney as they captured their fourth NBA title of the Stephen Curry era.
Since his death, many have commented on his likable personality, his positive energy, and his direct form of leadership.
The Warriors will get back to work on Wednesday when they host the Atlanta Hawks.
