Team USA’s men’s basketball team is getting close to the gold medal match.
They only need to beat Serbia today, and then they will play the winner of France and Germany for all the marbles.
Team USA has already beaten Serbia twice during these Olympics, so on paper, they should win without issue.
While it might seem easy to underestimate their opponents, Steve Kerr warned his team not to get complacent, as was mentioned in Brian Windhorst’s recent article on ESPN.
“We can’t get lulled to sleep because we beat them twice,” Kerr said. “We have to be prepared for their best effort.”
Serbia, of course, is led by Nikola Jokic, one of the most prolific players in the NBA.
Team USA is filled with All-Stars and a few potential Hall of Famers, but that doesn’t mean they can rest on their laurels.
Jokic can take over games at a moment’s notice, as demonstrated many times throughout his professional career.
If Kerr’s squad lets him get any momentum, it could hurt their chances of winning it all to take home their fifth-straight gold medal.
Thankfully, Team USA seems to be playing with a chip on their shoulders.
They have taken care of business when it matters thus far, and as a result, haven’t lost a game.
Fans are looking forward to seeing how they match up with Serbia for the third time in these Olympics, as it can be difficult to beat the same team three times in a row.
