The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk have less than two weeks to reach a contractual agreement.

Otherwise, Aiyuk has a decision to make.

He can either play out his current contract with the 49ers, trusting they will eventually do the right thing, or, he will sit out and force the team’s hand.

This situation has been closely monitored over the past several weeks, as Aiyuk is a high-profile player, and the 49ers are desperately trying to make it back to the Super Bowl.

Several fans and analysts have given their takes on the situation, including Steve Young, who chimed in on KNBR.

Young put the responsibility on Aiyuk’s agent, saying, “The agent has gotta be able to figure out a way to bring the player to see the values other than the dollars. To see the context that there’s a lot of great players out there that are playing with brutal teams that have no chance to see the full measure of who they can be as a player, and that’s not you.”

Young indicated that Aiyuk needs to find the light at the end of the tunnel with the 49ers.

They have made it to the NFC Championship for two straight seasons, and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Few teams have as much consistent upside, and Young views this as a major mistake on Aiyuk’s part.

Aiyuk might be frustrated with the way the contract has gone down, but it’s hard to ignore how good the 49ers have been and will continue to be.

The clock is ticking for both sides, and it will be interesting to see how this gets resolved.
