Steven Adams is one of the most talented big men in the NBA and quite an intimidating figure.
But that doesn’t mean he isn’t afraid of other stars because of their trash-talking capabilities.
According to a video shared by Steven Adams Stats on Twitter, Adams said he took a unique approach to avoiding Kevin Garnett during his first game against him.
Afraid of his smack talk, Adams pretended that he didn’t speak English when Garnett approached him.
The plan worked and Garnett avoided Adams for the rest of the game.
“He didn’t say anything after that thank goodness. He would’ve ruined me. I would’ve cried,” Adams joked.

Adams is six-foot-eleven and 265 pounds.
He is a major presence on the court every time he plays but was still frightened by Garnett.
That is completely understandable because Garnett was a scary guy to play against during his many years in the NBA.
He didn’t hold back and would say some biting, tough things to his opponents as a way to get under their skin and get the best of them.
Obviously, Garnett eventually learned that Adams does indeed speak English and he surely hurled some tough talk his way.
At that point, Adams was likely adjusted to the league and able to handle it.
Adams has been playing hard since his first season with the Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2013-14.
Lately, injuries have gotten in his way and he sat out for all of 2023-24 because of knee surgery.
He was recently traded to the Houston Rockets and seems on track to play with them when the new season kicks off in a few months.
After a decade in the NBA, this beloved veteran won’t be scared of any trash talk thrown his way.
