For a number of NFL franchises, playing in a domed stadium presents the advantage of players and fans not having to deal with harsh winter weather such as snow, sleet, wind or sub-freezing temperatures.

The Cleveland Browns are one of those teams that play in a cold-weather climate, and though success has been very hard to come by for them, they can boast arguably the league’s most devoted fan base.

The franchise has revealed plans to build a domed stadium while releasing renditions of what the new facility could look like, per Front Office Sports.

Ever since the new iteration of the Browns began play in the 1999 season, they have played at Cleveland Browns Stadium, which is an open-air stadium in downtown Cleveland and was known as FirstEnergy Stadium until last year.

The stadium also hosts various college and high school football games throughout the year.

A couple of years ago, it looked like the Browns had finally put together a team that could be very competitive when they traded for quarterback Deshaun Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, and wide receiver Amari Cooper, then a four-time Pro Bowler.

But they have sputtered ever since due to injuries and some poor play from Watson.

The Browns managed to make the playoffs last season for just the third time since re-entering the league despite season-ending injuries to Watson and star running back Nick Chubb, and now the concern is that Chubb may not be the same when he returns.

He suffered a torn MCL and a damaged ACL in Week 2 of 2023, and though he seems to be nearing a return, the date of that return remains uncertain.
