The Phoenix Suns have had a relatively quiet offseason so far and haven’t made much noise in free agency aside from taking care of their own guys since Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker take up so much of their salary cap.

Royce O’Neale and Bol Bol have re-signed with the Suns, and now one more player will be following suit and signing up for another year in the desert.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Damion Lee is returning to Phoenix on a one-year deal.

Lee missed the 2023-24 season after injuring his meniscus in training camp, but he was a key member of the team’s rotation in 2022-23 and averaged 8.2 points per game while shooting 44.5 percent from three-point range in 74 games.

Lee is a cheap perimeter threat that should fit right back into his previous role and will have plenty of opportunities to knock down open threes alongside this team’s three superstars.

The 31-year-old spent four years with the Golden State Warriors before suiting up for Phoenix in 2022-23 and peaked at 12.7 points per game in 2019-20.

His three-point shooting went up a level when he went to the Suns, and the team is hoping he can pick up right where he left off.

This was an unforeseen signing, but a welcome one for a team that is relegated to hunting in the bargain bin for free-agent targets this offseason.

Ownership has been adamant that the Suns will be running it back with their Big 3 and shut down any Kevin Durant trade rumors, and bringing Lee back into the fold is a great way to complement their stars.
