It only took them less than a day but the Phoenix Suns have concluded their search for a new head coach.
Shams Charania is reporting that former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has been hired to lead the Suns next season with a deal that could reach eight figures.
Now that he’s got the position, Budenholzer will have to get to work because he has a lot to accomplish.

Budenholzer was given the job less than 24 hours after Frank Voge was relieved of duty.
Vogel’s singular year leading the Suns was met with much disappointment, as the team never dominated the Western Conference as expected and also got swept in the opening round of the playoffs.
Now Budenholzer will try to capitalize on all of the talent and experience on a roster that features superstars like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, and others.
This will be Budenholzer’s third coaching job in the NBA and the first since being let go by the Bucks at the end of the 2022–23 season.
Ever since his firing last summer, his name has popped up every time there was a team looking for a new leader.
Most analysts agreed that if Budenholzer returned to coaching, it would be for a hefty salary and this new contract proves that was true.
For Budenholzer, this will be a chance to turn another team into championship contenders, like he did with the Bucks.
It’ll also be a very special job for him because he’s actually from Arizona.
But he has his work cut out for him because the Suns were so far from what they were meant to be in 2023–24 that it’s clear many changes need to be made.
The team has spent a lot of time, energy, and money on massive changes to the roster over the last couple of seasons.
