The NBA’s In-Season Tournament has been a success thus far.
It’s nice to see players competing at a high level and playing until the very last second.
The point-differential rule has been a bit controversial, as some players feel it’s disrespectful to see a team trying to run the score up in a blowout.
Devin Booker, however, seems to disagree.
Talking to Duane Rankin, the Phoenix Suns star stated that he actually wished all games were like that, as people shouldn’t consider being competitive as something disrespectful.
“I’ve seen teams upset about it, I don’t know why. I’ve seen players upset about it, I don’t know why. I wish every game was like that where you play until the end and it wasn’t viewed as disrespectful. Just high competition.” Devin Booker on NBA In-Season point tiebreakers #Suns pic.twitter.com/mzDqnRyvAk

Truth be told, he’s right on point.
If you don’t want the rival to do that, then don’t get blown out.
Most sports take goals, runs, or point differentials as a potential tiebreaker, so why shouldn’t the NBA?
The whole point of the In-Season Tournament is to have players competing and playing hard early in the season.
The only thing losing teams can do to avoid being “disrespected” by these unwritten rules is to avoid putting themselves in that kind of position in the first place.
It’s basketball, it’s a competition, and it’s the NBA, and you have to be up to the task; there’s no other way around it.
